R2D2 Reader is built to respect your reading life. This page describes
what data the app collects, how it's used, and what you control.
What stays on your device
- Every PDF you import.
- Your reading progress, highlights, and per-page memory state.
- Your quiz answers and scores.
- Reading streak, session times, and daily-minutes history.
None of this leaves your device. We have no servers that store it.
What goes to our backend
-
When you tap Take Quiz, the chapter's plain text is
sent to our backend, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to
generate the questions. The chapter text and the model's response are
never logged.
-
A random per-install identifier (32 hex characters) is sent with each
quiz request so we can enforce a per-device rate limit. It contains no
personal information and is not linked to any account.
Third parties
-
Anthropic — receives the chapter text used to generate
a quiz. See Anthropic's terms.
-
No advertising trackers. No Google Analytics. No Meta
pixel. The landing page itself uses only Google Fonts for typography.
Your controls
- Disabling quiz generation per book is one tap in the reader.
-
Deleting a book wipes every page-memory, highlight, quiz, and result
row tied to it.
-
Deleting the app wipes everything stored locally. The per-install id
vanishes with it; we have no way to identify you afterwards.
Children
R2D2 Reader is not directed to children under 13.
